These are juried competitions so yes, only the judges can vote.
The judges rate each photo on a scale from 1 to 5 (Poor to Excellent) for 5 different qualities: Composition, Lighting, Technique, Originality, and Impact. Judges also vote on whether the photo qualifies for either the NOVICE or AMATEUR/PRO category.
Winners are then determined by the total votes within each category.
The judges may include comments or suggestions when they vote, but this is optional. Remember that our judges are volunteering their time to review photos here, and I'm very proud of the dedication they have already demonstrated in getting this site off and running!
