 Members - please read and comment

The judges are evaluating our contest procedure and we've noticed that it's possible for a photographer with several entries to receive multiple awards (such as 1st and 3rd place, for example).

We'd like to know if you think this is fair or unfair, and why.

Should we allow only the highest scoring photo from an individual to place (even if they have other photos that would normally win), or should we award strictly on merit (in which case it's possible for one person to "sweep" the awards)?

We could also allow only ONE photo per category to be submitted by a photographer, but this would greatly limit the variety of images we are currently seeing.

Please share your opinions or suggestions.

I think the way the rules are written now is completely fair. I would hope that no one person would expect to sweep the awards. I love seeing the photos, and the suggestions, I hope it will help me be more aware of what it takes to make a really good photo.
So I think only the best scoring photo be allowed in the competition at any one time so more people can win.

Mark, the awarding is not that important to me, it's what I am learning from the comments that matters the most. Actually, I would like to see more comments from the judges if that is possible.

Remember that the judges are volunteering their time to review photos here (and there have been over 200 uploaded already!) so I can't really ask them to include more comments.

However, you're always welcome to post questions about any photo right here in the forum. I can't speak for the other judges, but I'll be happy to offer further critique or suggestions.

Thanks Mark, I was going to mention about the judges volunteering their time but my post got too lengthy, like this one I guess LOL.

I very much appreciate their involvement and really want to thank all of you for your comments. I am finding now, that your words come back to me so often when I am lining up for a shot. Hope I can submit some better pics soon.
